'Working With Rivers' Placement

Mr Isaac Stanesby

Isaac studied Architecture at Glasgow School of Art and is undertaking a 6 month internship as part of the NatureScot / GCAS ‘Working with Rivers Graduate Placement Scheme’.

Having developed an interest in environmentally sustainable architecture and natural building techniques, Isaac wants to use his time at GFT to explore the relationships between a biodiverse environment, land use and resources, and culture, alongside learning as much as possible about managing a riparian environment.

Aside from work, Isaac loves the outdoors, and is excited to spend time exploring Galloway and hopefully learn some local tunes.

Riparian zones bridge the gap between land and river, creating an important habitat for insects while also providing shade and protection against erosion. We do a lot of habitat work mainly to help aquatic species like fish, but we are keen to monitor and understand the wider biodiversity benefits.
