On Wednesdays 3rd and 10th April, Neil held volunteer days on the banks of the Water of Fleet with local volunteers from the Gatehouse of Fleet area as part of the Galloway Fisheries Volunteer Scheme. On the first day, we dealt with some snow damaged trees that had fallen into the river; these trees posed a threat to the banksides by causing erosion and also increased the flood risk. On the second day the team continued the ongoing task to selectively thin out the bankside trees which were causing overshading and access problems.
